Default Senior Project Update and Questions!

Well, I talked to a man that goes by the name Lucas at L&N Performance in Boone, NC. Ty I am pretty sure you know of him. Well he is the one who will be ordering my parts and talking to me about them for my presentation of my truck. Here are my options. To me, the transmission I have no will get most of the power the truck has to the rear wheels but to me, it doesn't seem like "all" of it is there. As in when I have th smarty and edge turned all the way up, it will slip just a little bit.But hey I paid $2500 and it comes with a nice warrenty locally.

Here is the trouble that I am having, and yes I dream about this every night!

A. Should I get the new turbo and ats exhaust manifold now and worry about the transmission later and in the years to come just try and get close to a billet transmission at some point. But what if I put in the new turbo and I am not even getting all the power I have now to the wheels?

B. Hold off on the turbo. Sell the transmission I have now or get my money back and use the money I would spend on a new turbo for a bigger and better transmission? or not?

let me know your input!

-Chris

you will be better off with a beefy trans that can hold anything you put to it.

Chris, Just my opinion but I would get a transmission that puts the power to the ground. You saw my Mustang, I spent nearly $6,000.00 on engine mod/upgrades. It was a beast of a ride, but the automatic trans did not allow me to get the power to the wheels. I converted it to a 5 speed manual and it is twice the car. Now the only problem that I have is getting the tires to hook...You can have 2000 horsepower but if you cannot get it to the ground, what good is it.....

Prep the transmission first. It's easier to plan an upgrade than scramble to fix.Good luck!

Well, I talked to my buddy who built my transmission. He said there is no way it should be slipping with just the smarty and edge and maybe the injectors. So he said bring it to me early Monday AM. Leave it with me till Wednesday. If it still feels it is slipping to you we will talk about money back or return type of situation. Other then that, if he gets it figured out, then I am going to go ahead and do the turbo and then save for YEARS to get a good transmission!

Thanks for the advice and I will let you know the outcome Wednesday.

BTW: I went to Charleston this weekend. I bought the truck last April with 92,500 miles on it stock. Now, with everything done, I just rolled over 119,500 pulling in my drive this afternoon. Gotta say I love driving the Cummins and I get looks everywhere I go! Gotta love a CUMMINS!
