New Diesel
Hey Guys, just got myself a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L Diesel and as my first diesel just curious if you guys suggest anything far as keepin up with good maintenance. I know one thing debated by lots is idle time, how long to let 'er idle at startup to warm up before you go and then how long to let 'er idle once u stop to let 'er cool down. I dont wanna blow the turbo lol
First of all, welcome aboard !!
As far as warm up and cool down goes, until you get yourself some gauges, I'd say a safe ime would be 1-2 minutes for each.
As far as what I would reccomend asthe BEST tool to help you maintain your Ram, I'd say it would be the oil drain plug from Geno's

Welcome to the forum. There is tons of good info on the DIYs. Man, you like those DS650s! I looked at a Baja X and they are SWEET!I ended up with a Predator. I justcouldn't justify the two grand more, but they are nice!
Thanx guys! Yea i love the DS's, i cant wait to customize the X, gonna get 'er powdercoated this year.
I'll haveta look into gettin some guages, and that oil drain plug is a good idea, Thanx!!
What do u guys think as far as fuel addatives?

That guy in your link has his facts wrong.Sulfer is NOT a lubricant. The process of removing the sulfer also removes the lubricating properties. I have viewed a controlled lab experiment done by an additive company and they found out that 2% bio had the best effect on lubricity even better than their own product. If I find the report again I'll link to it.

ahh ic ic, thats one problem i've heard so far about the '08 6.7L engines, if you let them sit to long running it clogs them up, then u get the check engine light to come on, construction ppl are the main ones i've heard with this, they let the trucks sit to long and b/c of the GO GREEN nonsense the emissions are so constricted they clog easily, hence the DPF i suppose lol - which is why i asked how long u guys let ur trucks warm up / cool down.
