Default Dang it

Back in january I installed an autometer electric fuel pressure gauge on the fuel line of the VP. Its worked fine for all this time except today it quit. It reads 0 psi all the time. I bumped the starter and the lift pump is making noise and the truck runs fine, so I think the sending unit is toast. I read on their website that a fuel snubber is required, but that wasnt up when I bought the gauge. Anybody had any experience getting them replaced under warranty? I hope they will because the sender is 130 bucks by itself.

That's weird

Did you ever get the snubber installed? I never put one on mine.

No I didn't, but at the time I installed the gauge, it said to use one on race engines, so I figured I didn't have to. Now there is a special note on the bottom of their site that says you have to specifically on 98-02 cummins motors. When I put the new one on, you can bet there will be one.

Mayfair, I recommend that you do. I talked to their tech support and the guy refused to do anything about it, even though it doesnt say you have to install the snubber on the cummins engine in the directions. He said he should not be responsible for the pressure errors in the cummins fuel system. Needless to say, I was a little pissed off. Now I have to replace the sender for 130, get a snubber for 30, and a 3 foot line to run off the VP for another 30. If I had known autometer was not going to stand behind their product like this, I would have thought about another company. Maybe I should have my buddy call and say he had a snubber and the 3 foot line.

I dont understand why you would need a snubber, what exactly does it do. I just installed a digital oil pressure gauge on the line feeding the injection pump,(CP3). I did not read anything about a snubber and the gauge supplier did not say anything about a snubber. My oil/fuel pressure gauge reads from 1-6psi.

That effing SUCKS !! [:@]

It doesn't say anywhere in the instructions that a snubber is needed, and yet when the sender fails, that's when you find out you're effed. I don't think I would let this go. I'd send a letter at least and try and get it resolved, because that's bull$hit !! [:@]

Man I agree. I think its bs that they dont have that info in the directions and then wont cover it. This sucks, I was going to get a raptor with some extra dough I had but now I have to buy the same effing thing twice. I am going to write them a letter mayfair, I think I will have to choose my wording carefully. I really cant believe they wont stand behind it--how much could it cost them to make that little piece anyways? Maybe I should ask my attorney sister for some pointers

A snubber is sort of a pressure dampener. The lift pump cycles and creates high and low pressure, a snubber limits the amount of pressure that can reach the sending unit and protects it from spikes and keeps the gauge from jumping around. I wish I was just yanking your chain.
