I have found dealing with intermittent faults are the terminals them selves. .

I've seen them come loose before myself. Not on trucks, but on regular ole wireing harnesses.
Don. . .the next time you come down this way, haul tandem empty, I'll yank the bumper pull back for ya loaded
I may have some time this weekend to yank it out and run a continuity check on the wireing harness to make sure non of the diodes are blown. I may come down to hard wireing the power wires instead of the jumper plugs that are used in the fuse box. then connect the ground wire to the chassis somewhere.
When is started happening my first thought was a connector that worked its way loose, however the connector was tight and the connections are solid. I got up under it last night with a flash light and checked them out. The crank seonsor ran through my mind as well, yet that is a piece that if it goes it wont be intermittent, it just goes.
My TST was the next option. so in talking with the guy's up there they ran a few things past me, just blowing some frustration out to you guy's that are not modified as to what you have to deal with when you start to hop the truck up.

Drew, its all good
If I did not count on ugly for a paycheck You boys would be scared to pull out on the road beside me
But not to worry, A 2nd CTD is weighing pretty hard on me and if it happens Look Out!!! besides my boy needs to learn how to turn wrenches
Anyway, do the uninstall and see what happens, surely you can do the speed limit for a day or two....

Hey Drew... sorry to hear about the troubles... did you check the wiring harness in the spots that was pointed out a while back? IIRC if certain wires get exposed you could have similar issues. the crank code could be a byproduct of the initial failure... keep that in mind when looking the harness over.
last time I cleaned the ground wire and negative terminal, wire brush and contact cleaner does a good job. I'm wondering if the same thing is going on.
I use that purple permatex spray stuff after cleaning my terminals to keep them corrision free. Seems to work pretty good.
Question ... What's up with those red and green felt things that are supposed to go on the terminals before putting the cables on? What do they do?
What abput those quick disconnect thingy's? They sure do look like they'd be a helluva lot easier to use when it comes time to disconnect / reconnect your cables.

the felt things are supposed to help prevent corrosion you put them on before the cables. next time I clean the terminals I may just slather the things in some permetex
