Default ICBC

As much I have always hated dealing with ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia), and I have to deal with them seeing as they have a monopoly on insurance in my province, I have to give them props. For those who didnt hear or don't know, ICBC had an issue where they didnt declare a bunchof vehicles as a previous write off or a rebuild on the vehicle history, and then resold the vehicle. Well, it turns out my truck was one of these vehicles. So, I get a phone call from ICBC telling me all this and then they say you have two options. Option #1: Keep the truck and put it through a vehicle inspection and they will pay and fees that I may incur. Option #2: ICBC will buy the truck from me for the full price that I paid for it four months ago and any extras that I put into it. Needless to say, I took option #2. Now I get to go truck shopping again.

That is awesome, that they actually owned up to it. I wouldn't have put it past them to not own up to it and hope noone noticed or found out. I also live in BC and absolutely despise ICBC. But I do know i have it pretty good in comparison to other provinces insurance rates for my age(24) even though i have a clean driving history since i was 16.

Thats awesome to hear that you came out in the positive with ICBC.

I actually bought another one already. '06 Laramie CTD w/ 108k. AndI cameout of this with $10,000 in my pocket. Talk about a good deal.

I know what you mean. As long as you keep a clean record and aren't on their dangerous drivers list your rates should stay acceptable. Although at 20, paying $2500 a year for insurance sucks.

Ya, i am 24 and pay $2250 for mine, thats with my full potential discount, granted i have full coverage with the lowest deductable. I just hit 40% in november. I can't wait until i am out of the 25 and under group so i can get my additional coverage items through CDI or one of those other places that do the stuff above the basic insurance, as they are apparently a lot cheaper.

Come on over to Alberta, private insurance... pffttt!!!! Insurance rates start at $2500.00 then more depending on type of vehicle whether your male or female! But then if you do come to Alberta, ya gotta watch out for them fellers with B.C. plates!!! They drive like they're lawyers on the way to an accident!!!

I do like the placards youstick on vehcles to describe drivers..."L" for learner "N" for new driver "M" for I'm Mario Andretti or "P" for Paul Tracey.

But like most I'm always in a hurry to get out of B.C.too!!!![sm=gears.gif]

I can relate to not liking ICBC! I just moved to northern bc from Kansas City and do not like it at all that I have to buy the government's insurance! Seems like a racket to get rich for the province to me. Just heard on the radio yesterday that ICBC was making enough profit to cut their full coverage rates. Our insurance cost more than doubled when we moved! In Kansas city, I had full coverage on both vehicles and not I have ICBC for the required insurance on both vehicles and Canadian Direct for the collison on my truck and dropped the collision on the car. I even have a good driving record! GRRRRR

As far as the letter magnets, I want a number 11 for Denny Hamlin!
