Cool car. I first seen the Chevy Volt at the North American car show in Detroit back in 2003 I believe. I know it was a few years ago. The first all electric car that looks cool enough to actually want to own. As for alternative fuels, most are technically a few years out from being practical daily drivers. I would like to get better mpg's also, but remember that 17mpg+ in a 7000lb truck is pretty good. With the new diesel tech. they now get 50+ mpg in the smaller cars. 50mpg in a car that will last 250k+miles is pretty good. As for electric cars, its all in the batteries. Todays batteries, being economical, have a low charge life, and are really heavy. They do have high life, high power, light weight batteries but they are way to expensive right now for mass production. Just give it some time and they will get it to work. Kind of hard to believe that at the turn of the century they were making just as many electric and steam powered cars as gassers!
