hey drako before you do the cable thing or replace the shut off solenoid i would first ensure that the pull up winding or the winding in the solenoid that uses more amp to lift the shut off up is getting power while you are cranking it. have seen more than a fair share of the pull up relay which is mounted on the cowling there just above the shut off solenoid fail. and they can be very intermittent. the relay on the cowl is powered up when you crank on the starter and the starter feeds the relay to activate it feeding power to the shut off solenoid. check that relay first and let me know also check to see that the boot on the shut off solenoid is not or has not gotten anything on it seeing as they are known also for swelling and getting a sticky goo on the shut off rod let me know

Drako

I just went thru the same thing with my vehicle.

replaced the solenoid AND the relay located on the firewall. No more problems.

Found what I needed at LarryB's place. Great fast service. http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/default.htm
