Default ? about "tow/haul mode"

Ok, am I missing something, my 2003 only has an "OD" off button, no tow/haul, when I turn off the OD my truck with the 4:10 gears will only run about 68-72 mph and it's up on the red line, here in Ks the speed limit is 65 on the two lanes and 70 on the interstate, if you run the speed limit you'll get run over. How hard do you all push it when it's not in OD? Am I missing something?

Dingo, As long as it is not changing in and out of O/D dont even worry about it, I ran my 2000 ctd in O/D for 150k towing my 27ft trailer loaded to the gills and never had any trouble. You just do not want constant changing, that is what will kill it.

Melon, thanks, mine never seems to shift out of OD when I'm pulling, but I've probably never had more than 7 or 8 thousand lbs behind it.
