Default My first diesel

I have had my 2004.5 3500 cummins for almost a year now. I have 65,000 miles on it and I love it. However I am looking at some improvements. One I already have is an AFE air intake. Everything else is stock. I want to improve economy and performance. I am looking into the obvious one exhaust. At least remove the muffler. What about the cat?

Also looking into Edge juice with attitude. I hear plenty on the power gains with these but how about economy??

Also...I have 4:10 gears 265/70/17 tires.

Looking for suggestions from first hand experience please.

First of all.....

Second you will see all sorts of different comments on performance / mileage around here. I did the straight pipe on my 06. I live out side of smog checks so I didn't have to worry about dropping the cat. Check you're local laws though. It is a big ol' ticket & if you have to go buy one and put it back on it's a real drag. Other than it being much louder minus cat / muf there is just a bit more pick up and go. Some guys say they loose low-end w/ straight; I haven't seen it personally.

One of our members is doing a heck of a little mileage test with all sorts of different variables...might be a good read https://dodgeforum.com/m_1037052/tm.htm
