Tow Strap
From a past post my attention was caught on having a tow strap stored on the truck. After some searches on the net, I found this one on e-bay for right at $99.00 shippped to the door.
It's 30ft. long, 2" wide, 2 ply rated at 40,000 lbs. It's made in Canada, (thanks Woli and Finny), and is advertised to have a 33% strech ability.
It ought to hold up to the weight of my truck, snatching out someone else out of the mud. We'll see!

If that doesn't work, I'll anchor my Yota to something secure and use the 9,000 warn winch to pull em out.

I get mine from my local army navy surplus store. I pay $13.50 for a 15' strap and I carry three, Ive broken one, in ten years of hardcore wheeling. and given probably ten away over the years. I love them. if I beak one, no loss!

I understand what ya mean, cost vs. longivity. I'm hoping that this will last a loooong time. I do beleive that it's safer, as to resist snapping and possibly injuring someone or something. Just want to do the right thing as resonable as possible. I've seen and heard of too many wires and ropes breaking on the river with injuries resulting..........one being fatal.[&o]

The best tip I ever hear when it comes to tow straps is to drape a tarp or something over it before towing whatever out. That way if the strap breaks, the tarp will slow the strap down.

Even just hanging a jacket over the strap helps. When pulling people out I always get someone to put their jacket on the strap if I dont' have one with me. I was out one time and saw a guy pulling someone else out of a mud pit and he put a jacket on the winch line and the cable snapped but the jacket stopped it in its tracks. It was pretty amazing to see it as I couldn't belive a jacket would stop a busted line from flying back at the truck.
