Default quarter mile???

i have been curious since i got the truck and i was just looking thru the 3rd gen section and someone asked about there hemi so i figured i would ask here....

what do you all think our trucks will do stock???

i have been hoping to hit a track up one day but unless i have some tranny work done its going to be hard to go there with a mostly stock truck with a smarty that makes my converter slip past 60 extra horse...

you could probably expect to run in the low 15's high 14's totally stock. You might have a hard time beating a Hemi in total stock form in the 1/4.

With a few mods though.... it wouldn't be hard to be in the 13's and giving the Hemi's a run for the money.

I ram 15.54 in teh quarter with teh diablo sport predator, Stock I would probably be in the 16's or even 17's. but that is because the 35's. I wish I could get some 265's to test my time at the track.

big ol tires sure don't help. My best run when my truck of all stock was 13.7. That was on 37's using the Smarty. I blew my truck up doing it [sm=icon_rofl.gif]but, that shows what the Smarty is capable of ! BTW... it was my foot that did that, not the Smarty :-)

what was the time on that run, 15.54??

when you go down the track... do you gotta throw it in 4 wheel drive to keep the tires from roasting?

best way to run would be to start off in 4hi, then about half track switch to 2hi. by then your going fast enough that wheel spin no longer is a probelm.

i did not know you can change while in motion like that...(i always stop first[:-])

also, the more i think about the heavenly "track" the most questions come to mind...

would my 4:10 gear hurt me in the long run... i know it will throw me off the line faster but would that not make up for the lack in high end?

you would have better acceleration over trucks with 3.73's. . .however your over all top speed would suffer due to the higher final drive ratio.

some guy's just leave it in 4wd since you are basicaly going in a straight line. my thought behind it would be instead of splitting the power to the front wheels, have it all going to the back once your going.
