i know of a head shop that i deal with that had the opportunity to open up a cummins with over 350,000 and they said that the inside of the motor was spotless. they said that it looked as if it was brand new. from what i have heard, as long as you don't get the 53 block, which i don't think was in the 97s but im not sure, then the motors will most-likely last forever. the auto would be the weak link but they can always be rebuilt so if you are getting a really good deal on it and it is what you want i wouldn't be afraid of it as far as the drive line goes.

what are they asking for it? Is it a piece of wood or a 4x4,
That's a good deal of miles 30k a year or so, I put 20 a year ony truck. Was it a true work truck, did it tow a camper across country (would make sense with all those miles)
see if theyll let you open up the rear end and see if the teeth are spent. A good built diesel will run longer than any other part of the truck. I had a 77 mercedes 300D had over 400k on it and it only died cause the oil gauge wasnt working right, still fluctuated when my foot was on the pedal but apparently it had a bad oil leak and quickly lost oil and engine seized, but other than that I'd still have her as a collectors car, was in great condition, power windows, automatic locks, last year before abs came out.
Anyways just try to find out what it was used for, if it was a farm or work truck you'll have susp and joint issues, if it was toting around a camper your trannys gonna be the weak link.

It all comes down to price, how much + potential repairs or a new one with a 7 70, a few months back talked lonestar dodge down on a new 2500 ctd quad cab 4x4 for 35 and change including ttl

how many other diesels can say they have hit 1 million miles with few problems and no rebuilds..
(argued that point with a duramax lover today, he could only say cummins are noisy engines to be next to after my above comment)

I have over 356000 on my 93. a few minor glitches like fuel injector pump, wiring harness issues, u joints, ball joints, etc. things wear out.

the engine itself will stay strong, the external components will break down.

Looks to me like RamItOne has something against people from Az. I thought texans were hospitable, RamItOne must not be a real texan. He is probably a yankee by birth. (No offense to the yanks.)

The truck looks a little rough, but the engine may be just fine. If it was well taken care of then 350k miles is okay, but if it wasn't then you never know what you're going to get. Hopefully the engine was taken care of better than the interior.

az2005 what other person from az have I been razzing? I hope you didn't think I was talking down to kev_n_az cause if that's the case you need to take a reading comprehension class.
also az born and raised in fl for my first 20 years, been in Texas for my last 4. Interesting that you'd use Yankee as a pejorative but then say no offense to yanks. Hrm you should be in politics.

hulse09- have you actually seen the veh in person, if not that's a big leap of faith taking whatever the sellers saying about the condition of the truck, didn't feel like pulling up the link on my iPhone but youre right about salt rust, I'd be cautious on how all the joints look under there ESP if they're all orig.

LOL dude that is WAY over prices, deseil or not thats still 333K Miles on a truck. I would not pay over 1,000-2,000 for it. Its not just the engine you have to worry about its everything else, the whole cab, set belt, expection, rust, transmation, u-joins,drive train everything. i say NO
