Hmmmm...not sure, but I'd try disconnecting the Edge and see if that helps.

I'm assuming the oil burners aren't that diff from the gassers, but its probably a rear speed sensor. Does your abs light come on as well? I've even had my spedo drop to zero on a 1200 mile trip, fortunately nav system tells you your speed as well.

My 04 QC 1500 started doing this not long ago. The sensor on the break pedal was going out, the sensor was telling the computer you tapped the breaks and would shut off the cruise control. It'll eventually fail completely and throw a code. If this is your situation, it was a quick easy fix.

there is no code (yet) I was thinking it might have something to do with the break & I don't think the edge has any thing to do with it since it's been on the truck a long while my cousin thinks it is a vacuum problem my service manual will be here this week and we'll figure it out

I've heard of vacuum issues a long time ago, setting to do with batt acid dripping onto a resovoir and messing up the servo. Sorry this was a long time ago and didn't pertain to me so just shootin from the hip.
