Valve Lash ... I did it !!
Mayfair, how many miles does your truck have on it and is this the first time the lash has been adjusted? I'm comin upon 106K and was kickin this project around...
I just finished doing mine. I have 90k miles and I only found one intake valve that seemed to be too tight so it was the only one I adjusted. I didn't think I had any loose valves because my truck is pretty quiet, no valve noise, but I thought it was time to at least check. Took me about 1.5 hours, but I had never done this before.
I didn't have any that were too tight, but most I could easily swipe the 0.012 feeler through, so I adjusted them.
The one thing that I didn't realize was that you had to kinda pull up that little chrome thing that you slide the feeler under. That threw me for a loop for a minute. I didn't realize that it wiggled side to side.

Yea, it took me a while to get the feel for it too. My thickest guage was .025 so I couldn't test the exhaust valves up to .030, but I also couldn't get the .025 to fit into any of them, so I figured they were okay. I had one intake valve that I couldn't get the .006 into so I went ahead and adjusted it. After I was finished I couldn't find my allen wrench and I almost had to take everything back apart because I thought I had left it under the valve cover. I found it just as I started the disassembly process and that was a relief.
Well, all I know is that I could easily swipe larger gauges through ALL of them so I just ran em all. The truck does seem a tad quieter. Hopefully it'll help my MPG's.
