I don't know what the heck is going on, but I'd LOVE to hear that 100K + trucks all decided to show up in Washington with their horns blaring. That would be AWESOME !!! I'm sure our "represenatives in congress" would hear that !!

sharx is right, what I liked about bush when he was running for prez is that he's against nation building and people were upset saying he's gonna isolate us from the rest of the world. Well that never happened. Why did we send billions in aid to afghans when we have people eating out of garbage cans and our va is so strapped our vets aren't getting the quality of care they deserve?

RE: OT Trucker Strike
what I heard is that its a independant trucker shutdown. Most company drivers probably won't join in unless they feel a solidarity to join in. As for the political part, I think for what we have done for the middle eastern countries we could at least get some sort of discount or something. I am not blaming bush for all the problems, as the democrats probably would have us in the same kind of hole anyway. All this started with Bill Clinton I believe. Screw the republicans and democrats, its time to start voting independant.

RE: OT Trucker Strike
You guys that know nothing about the trucking industry, and this is not to knock you for not knowing, please don't start talking about mandating idleair for those of us that put food on the table trucking. Idleair is a rediculously overpriced service, government subsidised, erector set that takes up a lot of space in truck stop parking lots. Parking lots that are chronically short of enough spots for all the tired truckers out there looking for a place to shut down at night when the econmy is good.Hell even when the economy is bad it can be tough to find a spot at night on some of the busier freight laness. Mandated 10 hour breaks and the 14 hour rule made it to where all the spots are gone as soon as the sun goes down. And to clear another misconception I saw posted unions represent maybe 5% of company drivers.Anyways that's all O/T in this O/T thread. The trucker strike is not going to happen. I've been trucking for almost 10 years now and been hearing "we're gonna shut em down such and such date" talk that entire time. It's just something that stirs up chatter on the cbamongst sleepy drivers angry about all the crap they put up with and looking to get a few more miles down the road. I was actually embarrassed when I saw info about it on the drudgereport and heard it on the news broadcasts because anyone that's driving knows it's nothing but talk. Anyways even if it did happen (mark my words april 1st will come and go and the trucks will be rolling)it won't change anything.. To that effectIrecently heard a veteran 35 year company driver call into a trucker talk show complaining about the owner ops who said company drivers were gutless. This guy went to jail in the 70's for leading a truck shutdown as a company driver. Saidhe'd seen 4shutdowns in all his time as a driver and you know what he said changed because of them? Nothing...
