Recommendation on a pull behind or gooseneck dump trailer
I am in the market for a dump trailer. I have an 03 2500 CTD with edge. Its a 5 spd manual with the 3.73. It has the shortbed but is goosneck ready. Would you recommend a bumper pull or a gooseneck trailer. I have been looking at the 14k 14foot dump trailer but just watned any recommendations from other users here.
Thanks

Gooseneck! If you plan on using it much and can justify the extra money. They pull much nicer. Don't have to worry about loading the tongue heavier so it doesn't sway. They don't try to turn the *** of the truck like bumper pulls. Back up nicer. Here's our raddy old Bri-Mar. It does all those things I mentioned but it still dumps good.

Check these guys out. They make some nice stuff at a decent price. I have an equipment trailer from them.

I had an 07 14ft load trail dump trailer with duel 7k axles and it was a handy trailer to have. I had the bumper pull, the only complaint I had on it was it swayed really bad if it wasn't loaded right. Mine had 5 ft pull-out ramps and I hauled a skid loader in the back and it pulled great. The only time it swayed was when someone loaded top soil in it unevely. Great trailer to own.
Depends onyour main use. I have a 16', 14,000 bumper dumper. I also have a 25' flatbed gooseneck. Agree that the gooseneck pulls better fully loaded. Better weight distribution on the truck. I bought the dumper for trash at my construction sites. The full trailer of trash is never is over 6000# net weight. With the bumper hitch any of the guys can hook up to it to move it out of the way at the jobsite. On occasion I haul gravel or fill dirt with it. The axles are set pretty good so I don't overload the bumper. The thing that concerns me is the ball, 2 5/16", is only rated for 10,000#. A little light for the load so I take it easy when fully loaded.
When you look for any trailer make sure the hoist cylinder is big enough todump a full load. Nothing worse than not being able to dump that load. My hoist is rated at 20,000#, never had a problem.

in my previous life(job) I had two dump trailers. . .one that was a pull behind and a gooseneck. . .both had the same load capacity, however if I was going to be loaded down heavy I would always snag the gooseneck.
I dumped 12K of wood from a bumper pull once. . .wood didnt dump out properly and nearly yanked the back end of the truck into the air. besides, if your going to be pulling heavy, you can load that gooseneck any way you want and it'll run right with you.

Our receiver hitch is only rated to 10K lbs when using a wieght distributing hitch. Hooking up those WD hitches is a PITA. I would say goosneck all the way. You will have to make sure that the gooseneck you get has a longer hitch for the short bed truck so that you can turn sharp.
gooseneck is the best if u dont mind loosing bed space while towing, for my part when i need my trailer (24'flatbed dual 7k torxflex axles) its because my flat on beasty is already fully loaded,
so its not uncommon for me to go whit trailer and truck full,so its an issue for me else id go gooseneck for sure
