No fuzzy on the 285's!
I had 285's installed yesterday on my 06 CTD 4x4 Quad Cab. So far I don't have a fuzzy feeling.
I've alway been a White Letter out guy but after looking around noticed almost all 2500 and 3500 have no White Letters showing so I had them turned in and I'm having a hard time with them being on the inside.
With my 265's my read out on the overhead console would get up to 22 MPG. I had the speedometer calibrated this am and the best I can get with 285'sis 20. Hope I did not loose 2 MPG's. If I did it's my fault for going 8ply intsead on 10 ply. I think the softer tire may have an impact then the harder 10 ply's with 70psi.Your thoughts?
How does the over head consol MPG display read from the speedometer? If not I just have to live with it.

I can't help you with the letter in / letter out thing, I went with letters in. I kinda like a black wall tire.
As far as the speedo, you MAY have lost a little, but 2MPG I think is a bit much. Are you sure your speedo was recalibrated right? Either way, like Frog said, the ONLY way to get an accurate reading is to hand calculate it. the overhead is useless.

SC Willie. I had the 285x70x17's Toyo Open Country AT. They are definitly softer my mileage droped a little about 0.5MPG. The Dealer recalibrated my Speedo and they told me that the Max compensation is for up to275'sx70x17's tire size.I notice driving around that any Radar display at School zones or other speed reminder locations that with that tire size I was dead nuts with the speedometer vs the display. The Overhead Bogameter is joke. The MPG display is just usful for the Salesmen at the dealers. They don't say much when you say "The vehicles can get quiet good MPG". Mine is of fbetween 2.5 => 3 MPG. Hope this helps.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
