Default What fluids can I change??

I just bought a used 04 2500 ctd with 65,000 miles. I want to change all the fluids that I can. Last weekend I changed the oil(but didnt have time for the filter) and the oil was SO black and used I didn't like the looks of it. So for peace ofmind Im changing the oil again and replacing the filter.

Can I change the tranny oil? What about the diffs and transfer?
What all needs to be changed at 65,000 miles? Also where can I get a good cheap ball joint?(minehas some good play in it)I want to flush everything that I can out, and have the dealership do everything else. They want $500 to change everything though, so I am trying to bring the cost down!

Thanks!
Austin

Its a diesel the oil will be black after100 miles on a new oil change. I would put a new filter on for sure. You might as well dump the oil and start over since you didnt change the filter and it holds alot of oil. Make sure you fill your oil filter up before you put it on. Read the DYI (Do It Yourself) on the oil change.

There isn't any fliud that you can't change yourself. I would never even bother to do an oil change without also changing the filter. It holds a quart all by itself. Also do NOT use Fram oil filters !!! Get a good one like a Fleetguard, and make sure that you're useing the proper oil. I'm useing Rotella T.

As far as the joint goes, don't even bother looking for a cheap replacement, do it right and get a Moog. You'll be glad you did.
