Get the Aero !!

I don't know what kinda pipe that muffler shop guy is smokin from, but the Aero's kick ***. The guy who installed mine just re-welded the stock hangers right back onto the Aero. It aint pretty, but it works just fine. It's been there from I think a year now.

Get it, but shop it around. We had a guy here a month or so ago who was offering GREAT deals on Aero's. That was all he sold. I got mine from Verocious ( one of the forum sponsors )

Check out the MBRP MK96116 it comes with the offset pipe and hangers. I really like mine, not much louder, no droning just a little deeper.

That gives me a good look at what the shop can do to get it in there !!! Doesn't look like they had any issues with theexhaust being offset.. and thehangers on the new pipe makes good sence! Has any one notices any gains in MPG? I know some have said it seemed the turbo spooled quicker, just wondering if that is due to another mod or directly because of the Aero. The reason I ask is because I still have warranty on my CTD and a drop in filter "Amsoil 189 and Aero were the only mods I will attemp for now... I just wondered if I will notice any performance from this or am I waisting time and $$$$. Did anyone just do this mod for the sound or were you also looking for performance? Either way what was the end result ?

Sound mod only really. I did other things for performance... Intake, programmer and such, I am sure I am getting something performance wise from the Aero, but with everything else I did, the gain wasn't noticed from just the muffler. Everything I have went on within two weeks of everything else so.....?

 

The turbo does spool a little quicker with the Aero, which gives you a little boost, but the big plus other than the sound is that because of it's design it kinda THROWS the exhaust out of the tailpipe moving it as quick as possible. Because of this, it helps to reduce your EGT's which is a BIG plus.

Simply put, if I needed another muffler tomorrow, I'd by the Aero again.

 

Thanks again for the input Mayfair.. I wish I was going to be down there though.. These are a lot cheaper in the states.. even tried to order from there but the duty and shipping were a killer. Even at the shop up here they add those extras in.. bunch of crooks I tell ya. Any way I think I will end up getting one, even though the shop I AM DEALING WITH DOESN'T RECOMEND THEM FOR diesel applications. He is just starting to carry them so I am not sure how he knows this !! You would happen to have a sound clip would you? I haven't heard what they sound like with cat in place. My truck also has an oem resonator behing the muffler.. wondering if i should loose that.. keeping in mind I want it ti be quiet. Any thoughts?

BTW: Make sure that when the guy installs it that he mounts it correctly. You want the rings to the BACK of the truck, not the front. That's another reason why mine looks so bad. The guy's who installed mine installed it backwards the first time, so they had to cut it out and re-do it.
