Help!!! Got a question about mileage!!!
I am curios what kinna mileage everyone is getting.. I really would liek to know, b/c I have a 2001 3500 auto w/ 3.55 gears. I am getting about 11 in town and 13 on the hwy. I am wondering if this is normal or if ther might be something wrong with my truck. I have a friend that has a 2000 2500 4x4 and he gets 18+ on the road. I recently had my injection pump and lift pump replaced. I have also installed a new turbo and a powerchip(that claimed to improve mileage up to 2 mpg, but I havent notice a change at all....) Any insite on this and/or suggestions??? I am thinkin now maybe having my vavles adjusted, but I wanted to see what others thought before I spent MORE money...
I'm pulling about 16 around town and somewhere around 19 on the hwy. Yours are the worse figures I've heard of but I can offer no advise or input that could cover THAT kind of mileage. Is your turbo off a Peterbuilt? Also, don't pay someone to adjust your valves. Check the DIY forums. The guys around here have selflessly put much of their knowledge of these trucks to paper.

I would reccomend calling Cummins in your part of the world. You can go to their website and do a search. I would not take it to a dealer. They can do all kind of things to the "B" Series.
How hard are you driving it? Are you baby'n it and getting that low? I have 06' CTD Quad 4x4 w/373 and average 19.3 last tank. It could be timing on the fuel delivery.

I have an 04.5 model and I'm only getting about 14 mpg city or highway is doesn't matter much. I know almost everyone else is getting 17+ mpg especially with the second gens. I would think there is something wrong if you are getting that low mileage.
I dont usually drive that hard... Well, I dont think so anyways... But thats my opinion... lol... Im really not complaining that much about what I am gettig b/c I used to have a chevy 454 and when I hauled the loads I am hauling I would get around 7 mpg and I can keep it around 11 haulinng now.... I am mainly just curios on what I should be getting....
OH yea by the way, I also installed a 5" exhaust think maybe I was choking my truck with the new turbo and chip, but that didnt help either.. Help my EGT drastically tho...lol Didnt help my ears at all....LOL It rattles my brain like crazy....
