Default Difference with 5.9 CTD vs 5.9 CTD H.O.

I have a 2006 CTD. I got a history printout from the dealer and it says it's a Cummins 5.9L H.O.
I understand it's High Output but what makes it High Output? What's the HP difference?
When did they start making some with this option? Were they all High Output?

Thanks!

I think they were all considered H.O. Just something Dodge added to make them sound better than the competition.

There were different motors through the early part of this millenium, in 2006 though, they had one standard motor and called them all H.O.

No... Not exactly for 2Nd Gen 24V trucks...

1998.5 to 2002 hade both SO (235 HP)and HO (245 HP) engines...

The HO was standard with all 6 speed trucks... HY35 Turbos... HO VP44 Pump... Slight change in compression ratio (Highier)

The SO was standard with all 5 speeds and Automatic Trans... HX35 Turbos... SO VP44 Pump (Which is the one they build HRVP44 from!).
