Default Thinking about a Mini Cooper

With diesel going through the roofand no end in sight, I've started thinking about getting someting to drive back and forth to work that is more economical. I've always liked the look of the Mini Coopers, so I was thinking along those lines, however I know diddly about them.

Do you?

Are they any good? A PITA? What's up with them?

If not them, any other recomendations?

I'f I'm going to be making a car payment each month ( $110.00 a week for diesel fuel ), I might as well have the car to go with it.

I recently bought a used escort for all the same reasons. Thing is though I drove it for about a month than it sat in the drive for a month before I sold it. Its just no where near as nice to drive as a CTD. I Found all kinds of reasons not to drive the damn thing.

can't say that I blame you. A contractor I work for just traded in his Volvo coupe for a Mini. He claims they get 30 to 40 MPG. I just don't like the thought of driving one with the size of the other rides on the road. They're some sweet rides though :-)

Mini Coopers do not get as good of mileage as you might think. They are very small cars but only get 28-30 highway.

It's funny because I have been watching Craigs list for about 6 months now and never saw any Dodge trucks with a CTD for sale. Maybe 1 a month. Now there are about 25-30 of them on there. I guess we aren't the only ones fed up with the $4 diesel. My truck has been parked since October unless I'm towing. I'm even considering towing my small trailer to the shoot next week with my old 5.2L 1500.

If the cooper breaks down you can put in the bed of your CTD

How long will it take before you will actually be saving money by buying a new car. Price of car+insurance+maintance+fuel+interest on a loan if you have one. That's allot of fuel?
