Default Brake Controller Location

Hey gang!

I was thinking about moving my break controller from the typical "knee bashing" location to under the lip of the center console. I was wondering, doesanyone know if there is anything behind this panel or how hard it would be to get it off?I'm thinking of cutting an access path inhereso the controller can slide back into this location and be more visible to the driver.

Thanks!

Mike

I put mine just above that area on the lip at about a 70 degree angle. Works good with no problems.

Did you cut into this panel and let the controller sit back in there a bit?

I placed mine in generally the same spot...I have an 6spd manual...

Had to remove the center console on the floor...there there were I think 2 phillips head screws that hold the panel in...they're on the bottom...and then the panel just slides down and out. I screwed the bracket into the bottom lip..just above the box you put in the pic...attached my prodigy and replaced the piece of plastic. Was able to route the wire between that piece of plastic and the center console when it was replaced.

If it's not raining tomorrow I'll take a pic and post it tomorrow night when I get home.

Well after looking online at how to take the center console apart, I decided to tear into it to see how far I could get. After removing the center console and this front panel, I decided to go the next step and out came the Dremel. After a few test fits and rerouting the wire for the controller, here is the AFTER picture:

I'm really gonna like this mod when pulling the camper.

Nice work.. Thats how I got my CB mounted where it is as well. I had to cut lots of clearance gols in the bottom of that panel to clear the cabl;es and rearof the radio.. pretty emtpy back there, not much, but still not much room either.

Thanks Mayfair!

Actually, there is about 2" of space behind the piece I cut into and another 1/2" gap behind the entire piece. It made running the wires around and up behind this plastic quite easy.
