Default 98 Ram Turbo Quit on me...help!!

I have a 98 Dodge Ram Turbo with 180000 miles on it. It is a work truck and i was working on a terribly dusty work site for the past few months. Tonight, i left a stop sign, and heard air blowing as i was speeding up. It sounded like when the turbo was spooling up it would blow quite hard against the firewall on the right side. I took a quick look and couldn't find anything yet. The air filter was dirty and the indicator showed that it was 100% dirty. I changed the filter. But now, no turbo power. Where should i start looking??? Thanks!!

You could have blown a hose to you cooler. Check the hoses for any splits or holes. Also pull the intake elbow off the turbo and check the compressor for damage and make sure it spins freely.

I wouldn't drive this truck at all till you correct the problem!

You have no gauges present. So the pyrometer (exhaust temp) will be extremely high if there is no boost pressure available and very well can burn a piston up without a turbo.

But here is a write up for a turbo inspection...

But check all boots and plumbing of the air system...

You might consider a BHAF...

Sounds like a leaky boot to me. If you need to replace them, I'd go with the silicone ones for sure.
