Do Jeeps get good mileage?
Poking around on craigslist, I saw this. Do they get good mileage?

I have always babied this car and I've always made sure the maintainance was fully on top of. 100% Rust free, garage kept.
This vehicle has never been involved in a collision. Never been smoked in. Kept in garage. The engine is functioning perfectly. This vehicle's interior is very clean. The tires are brand new and ready to roll!!!! Engine: 6 - Cyl. 4.2 L, Transmission - Manual, Exterior/Interior Color - Black, Convertible. This is a NON-SMOKER car!
Don't buy a used car without running a CarFax Report first.

they should I've been looking at buying a newer jeep but I would put 37" tires on em and lift it so that 6cyl will be getting worked so in that case it would suck. But it would make for a great beach veh.
It looks like its in great shape, but wheres the mileage? 5k seems steep for a 20 year old veh.

I looked at that Jeeps listing again, but no mention of mileage anywhere. It looks like a tow viechle though, like it was towed behing a motorhome or something doesn't it?
that jeep if everything is running ok will probably get you 13-15 mpg depending on how it is drove. looks good but price is a little steep. find out the miles and then remember if they say it has a lot of them but they are just from towing that the axles would still be getting the wear even though the motor and trans wouldn't be. the 4.2l straight 6 is an awesome motor with tons of power and is almost indestructable. they are like a 5.9l cummins and will run for almost ever.
My wife has a 05 Wrangler with a6 cyl. and it sucks the gas down, 15-17 mpg. It is also the biggest peice of **** we have owned, no power and rides like a go-cart.

My 1991 with the 4.0L fuel injected gets around 18 hwy. The 4.2 is carburated and gets just as crappy or worse mileage.
I personally now commute in a 2003 Honda Civic. 35+ mpg.

What are you wanting to do with it? Just drive it or turn it into a trail rig or crawler?
