Question about Aero 4040
I will probably have the money to finally get my Aero here in the near future. Right now I have a 4" straight pipe and was wondering if the openings on the Aero will fit over the pipe or if it is the exact same size and has to be welded? I was hoping I could just cut out a section of the straight pipe and slide the Aero on. Will this work?
The pipe will slide into the Aero, however one side of the pipe will hafta be flared to fit over your existing exhaust.
Here is what mine looked like when I got it

No, the Aero is flared on both ends, but one end of your straight pipe will hafta be flared to fit over your existing exhaust if you are going that route. Stright pipe will fit into Aero no problem.
Should be able to as long as both ends are flared on the muffler and both ends of the pipe are the same diameter. Personally, I'd weld it anyway. Not a big fan of clamps.

If you are going to clamp it in place, get those clamps that i have in the picture. They wrap around the joint and form what I hear they work really well. I wound up having mine welded in so I never used them and sent them back.
I'm still a little confused as to how exaxtly you are going to do the install. Like - if you are cutting out your old muffler and cat, you're going to need a piece of straight pipe because the length of the Areo is shorter than what you just cut out, so you'll need some pipe to make up the difference. Ok, so you cut out your old stuff, slide the Aero on, slide the straight pipe in the other end, but now you have to same sized joints meeting each other. You'll need either your tailpipe flared, or the one end of the stright pipe flared.
You know what I mean?
