Default cunnins polution controll

Emissions light came on again today. Crossing tall bridge pulling empty goosneck with tow haul on. The jake brake kicked in on down side. Drove another 6 miles, picked up load and started engine. You guessed it, the emissions light came on like clock work. Drove back to our company and unloaded. Waited about 3 hours and drove 4 miles, light still on. Turned engine off for thirty min. Started truck again "no light" this time. This happens "every time" I cross a tall bridge and use the jake brake. The dealership turns the light off every other week. 7,300 miles on truck. I drive in both freeway & stop and go Houston traffic. What can I do. The dealership can't fix it and Dodge says call the selling dealership. Would a used 06 Dodge Cummins work better? Help, Dodge won't!

Im taking it that you have a 6.7l cummins not cunnins. You running a programmer/ module? Are you running ULSD? Not had a prob with mine at 8100 miles yet, have the edge on level 3. You have an auto or stick? I also heard running engine above 2k rpm will help out cleaning the dpf. You can always get the edge and cut off the exhaust- will help you out for the clogging, you can clear the code with the edge. But will still run in regen mode. An 06 would def be better, no 2010 emmisions crap= no clogging of the dpf.

will this stop my turbo from getting coated with carbon. How about the particulate filter? Will it void my warranty? What about the emissions test in 2010? Everything is stock w/6speed auto. wish i could find a 06-5.9

Here's a hint on that light.

This is dependant on your states lemon laws

If it really ticks you off and you want it taken care of quick and not blown off by anybody, write a letter to Dodge. After 3 attempts to fix a problem you send them a letter of Final Opportunity to Repair. They get this last opportunity to make it right.

They have to schedule you an appointment and attempt to fix the vehicle. If the condition occurs again, you bring it in, get it documented, then you can send a letter to Replace or Repurchase the vehicle.

The key is including the local Chamber of Commerce, State Atty Gen. Your state Atty Gen should send you a packet of info in case you decide to go further with it. THe Chamber of Commerce will usually beat them up a bit on the phone, especially if the dealership is a member.

But, it all depends of your level of tolerate for the issue. Me.......well, I don't pay $40K plus to deal with BS that doesn't work right.

Fix it or buy it back.

If you want to see a REALLY frustrating example of this, jsut go back to some of my early posts and you'll see how all my stuff went down.
