Default Front Wheels Went Crazy!!!

2006 CTD 4X4 Crew Cab with New 285's on OEM wheels just installed 2" leveling kit.
Hit a hole in the road front wheels went wobbeling (spelling?) like crazy. I was pulling a trailer
and was running 80 not a good thing. Slow downed and after a while they went back to normal.
Everything looks and appears normal truck as 51000 miles. Any ideas??

Death wobble. That sucks man. It is a phantom. Nobody has ever found the cure. Some say it is from play in the ball joints. Jeeps are notorious for it. But I have seen it alot of vehicles. I have even seen it in an 81 Datsun 280ZX. It is usually caused by hitting something hard, such as a pot hole in your case. You may have bent something.

you need a new trac bar. . .your front sway bar end links are probably bent. . .steering stabilizer may also be bent.

I would suspect the 2 inch leveling kit. I have seen the death wobble many, many times. I have seen it caused by the tie rod ends that needed replacing. But I have seen the leveling kits cause this problem alot. And its not any specific brand of kit. I know alot of people on this forum and elsewhere that have no problem at all with a leveling kit. But you need to think that if you did not have this problem before you installed this kit....

I agree with Mr. Parts and Service, same thing with a friends truck, installed 2in leveling kit and on the way home same thing happened to him. He had it removed..I've never had a problem with mine. Pretty weird.

I guess it also has to do with who installed it as well. . .also the alignment has alot to do with it. David's crew installed my 2" spacer while she was under the knife to fix some bent parts from my epic failure. So far so good.

When I hit about 65-70 on the highway, I get a really annoying vibration up front (or I think it's up front) that goes away over 85ish. Had the tires balanced but that didn't fix it. I'm thinking it's probably the U-joints/Ball Joints. Any insight?

There is a TSB that sorta applies to this problem and we have solved this many times by replacing the parts listed. But as Drew said an improperly installed leveling kit or alignment has also been the culprit..

Thanks for looking that up Dave. Don't know if that'll work for me though because of the lift
