Well, on mine, with the 5.9, I hear the sound you're are talking about, but what it actually is is the torque converter staying locked until it's about to stall the engine.

What I think you are hearing is the sound of thedriveline actually "turning" the engine, because the TC is locked.

Obviously, with the manual, you wouldn't hear it.

Try this....

Turn the exhaust brake off and drive your truck in Tow / Haul mode. Listen as you come to a stop, I bet you hear the same sound.

Between 1000 - 1300 RPM's is where you hear it.

My truck gurgles as well, right when it disengages. When my brake is on, it seems to disengage at around 1200 to 1400 RPM unless in tow/haul mode. Is the same case for everyone? I wasn't sure if the brak was functioning properly.

Also, what exactly did you do with the intake baffles?
i removed the elbow from the airbox and intake pipe. you will see a cross baffle wrapped in foam. grab it and pull, comes roght out. the baffle takes the intake pipe (5 or 6 inch diameter) and closes it down to 3 inches.

My Ram is been making that noise on and off, everything started when they replaced the turbo actuator. It can go for several days with no noise, but when you are at the stop or waiting at the drive thru, you can feel the engine like going in the exhaust brake stage and if you don’t switch to neutral the engine almost die for less than second and come back again. I also noticed the smell of partially burned diesel but no codes or nothing. Please any advise is appreciated.
