won't start after repair
Sounds like the lift pump to me. Had mine go a few weeks ago and received the seame code. 0628=Fuel Pump Relay Circuit Low, or Fuel Lift Pump Control Circuit Low
Mine was covered under the 100k cummins warranty. Not sure how big of a job though.

Same thing happened to me and i received 2 of the 3 codes that you did. Once I replaced the lift pump, all went away.
Geno's Garage sells a factory replacement. That's what I ended up with due to finances, it was $200 something or other. It was pretty easy to replace also. Take off the drivers side wheel and inner fender and you;ll be able to reach it no problem.

It turns out that the lift pump was bad. Just a strange coincidence. I took it to a performace diesel place and asked about options. He replaced it with an Alliant Power pump and an inline fuel filter. He said they've had good results with this combination and it's a boatload cheaper than the aftermarket options ($388 diagnosed and repaired). He also said that the 03s are not subject to the same injector damage problems that earlier versions of the injectors were subject too so I shouldn't worry about destroying the injector pump even it this one should fail. Seems like a good compromise.
the stock carter pump is crap. . .luckly I am still on the stock one. . .however I do know at some point in time I'll need to get something better.
now I need to go find some wood to hit.
