Yeah I have been thinking of moving counties, for that reason and no emissions tests outside the Denver area. Mayfair, I have no idea why it costs so much, and they are talking about charging an additional $50 just for the priviledge of registering, what BS is that!

Starting in 2009 Iowa will raise the price of pickup fees from $60.00 for 1/2 ton, $80 for 3/4 and $100. for 1 ton to prices like they do cars. They did this to get more money to help fix the roads but they have got tax money for years and not fixed them like they should have. The reason they want us to pay more is because so many people have bought trucks over the years and not cars for the family to drive.
They claim it use to be only Farmers who bought one so with everyone buying a 1/2 ton pickup they take in less $$$$$. They did grandfather in all truck licenses fees at the old price for as long as we own it so long as it was bought to be registered no later then Dec 31 2008. But once we buy a new one starting Jan 1 2009 we will have to get use to being bent over like they do to people in other states.
