Programmers: Who has what?
Just trolling to see what's what with tuners and programmers for the (2005) 5.9's.
I had an Edge Juice w/Attitude on my'03 Dmaxthat worked nice, but started crapping out and killing the engine when that AZ summer rolled around and it got really toasty under the hood where the box lived...
Who's got the goods for programmers for the CTD's?
Thanks!!

Stay away from Diablo sport unless you have money to burn for fuel... way too much smoke!!! Over fuels, rough idle, engine surge and surge while on cruise control. I just received my Smarty Jr., I wasn't looking for tons of power just something extra and mileage with less smoke. I've been running the smarty for a week now, better mileage, no smoke and lower EGTs!! Even pulling the TT up grades, she runs cooler and with a little more power! Also runs quieter and the idle is alot smoother!

Oh no... Not looking for a black cloud making programmer. The Edge seemed like it did a nice job, no real smoke until levels 4 and 5 on the Dmax, but the heat related failures are just too much BSto deal with on a $650 programmer.
Plus, for each flavor of diesel out there, everybody says one works better on a different brand of truck than the other.
I like the display and switch on-the-fly style programmers the best.
Thanks for the input!

I have my Edge w/ Attitude monitor. Have had it under the hood of mine in the Georgia / Alabama heat for the past 2 summers and not a single issue with it (where is the biggest piece of wood I can find).
Very little smoke up through level 3.
I don't use Level 4 or 5 from a stand still as the TC can't hold it and the tranny slips.
Level 4 will smoke if you get on it under low boost. Level 5 will smoke pretty good if you time it right. Get it at about 45 - 50 MPH in T/H mode, right when the TC locks, romp on it and it'll smoke up good.
Mileage, for me, during day to day is in the 17 - 19 range and I drive on Level 3 almost all the time. On the highway, I run about 20 - 21.5 if I keep between 70 - 75 MPH.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my Edge.

Smarty Jr. love it. got about 1.5 mpg gain in the 75-85 mph range, much better if I keep it around 65-70 which is hardly ever but well worth it. Takes my buds diablo sport when he is tuned higher than me too...his smokes less but I get better mpg btw...and I smoke like a train when I get my foot in it!
