Default trans swap?

An unplanned move dug a hole into my auto tranny upgrade so I got more time to think it over. I've been stuck on getting a ATS Stage 4 set-up, buta friend with a powerstroke previously swapped his auto for a maunual at a dealer that is now closed . But he got a nicely built manual trans installed for under $7000. Has anyone actually done this on a truck around my year? If so what ya pay and what did it involve. Its just something I'm thinking about doing if its in the price range of the ATS auto setup...thanks

Default RE: trans swap?

i have been wanting to do this for my second gen for a long time. i think the swap would be hard for you unless you had a full donor vehicle. becuase you would have to change all the wireing harnesses involved with the tranny.

most of this stuff is for second gen but at elast you can see some of the work that is involved.
