Power surge
My 2006 has a power surge while driving under light/medium load. 10psi boost or more. It feels like it is starving for fuel. Above 25 psi boost, it goes away. It is a auto 4x4 quad longbed. I've installed the edge w/ attitude, a K&N drop in, and a magnaflow muffler. I change my fuel filter every 7k miles. It didn't change after changing my fuel filter last time. I have 19k miles on it. Also my overhead mpg is off by 6mpg if that is a sign. I ran from Palm Springs CA to Reno NVat about 75mph passing a few times and was getting 16mpg by the math.Any help before I remove the edge and go in for warranty.
I would remove the edge and see what happens. if you still have the surge I'd be looking at changing the FCA. it may be sticking which is a common problem if you have a surge.
BTW FYI. . .theFCA can be changed out with simple hand tools in unter 10 min.

is it surging when using cruise or your foot or both?
Mine started a little surging a while back when using cruise control. Filter change did nothing, removed the superchip and still no change. Finally, I changed the clockspring for an unrelated issue and the surging disappeared as well. Not sure if that was the actual cause or just a coincidence, but food for thought.

What's the FCA? I did try it on all the levels of the Edge including stock and it was still there. Cruise and manual right foot mode. I was hoping I wouldn't have to go back in and disconnect.

Not sure about what the clock spring thing is... I do have a digital clock in the radio.

the FCA, Fuel Control Actuator is located on the CP3 high pressure pump. it is on the lower end of the pump. if you'r looking for it, it is the only thing on the CP3 that has wires going to it.
the FCA controls the fuel flow through the CP3. it is if you think of it as the throttle regulator. there is an internal cartridge that slides in and out according to throttle and engine RPM's.

Any idea on the cost of the part? I'm trying to weight the cost vs. removing the edge system and taking it in for warranty. Is there any secrets on replacing it or is it just remove and replace? Should I get the part from Cummins or Dodge?

I have been having he same surging issue while in cruise, especially when the computer lets off the throttle. I came to the same conclusion as Drew and suspected the FCA. My truck is in the shop right now getting a broken fuel line replaced as well as the FCA (it pays to be friendly with the techs). I'll let you know if that cures the problem.

I changed the FCA. It was pretty easy. Still have the problem. Any more suggestions? I was thinking injectors since I heard they aren't that good but what about the tranny or TC?
