I see that VW discontinued the tdi in 07'. Wonder why?
VW discontinued the TDI in 07 because they couldn't meet 07 diesel emissions (think DPF). There will be an 09 TDI coming this Aug.

yeah I was stunned at first when I saw vw not come out with the tdi, think they have em priced in the low 20's for 09, but that's just the msrp

Easiest way to judge the effects of drafting a truck is roll over to the left lane and then back into the right, you should be able to feel the diff in turbulence.
And just to state the obvious, dont draft a truck when yer pulling a 5th wheel.

Bigriver, what kind of mpg to you get when you tow that house?

Thats pretty interesting. I usually try to avoid the semi's as much as possible, seeing that the withing the 1st week of having my truck, a semi picked up a rock and chipped my windshield.
lift your truck higher then it will hit your bumper

Steve, I've been thinking about getting a Jetta TDI. Do you have that model, or the gasser? Any issues that you've had to go thru? I see that VW discontinued the tdi in 07'. Wonder why?

I see that everyone has opinions about drafting. I don't think that I'll do this on a routine basis, but perhaps on occasion. Glad to see everyone point out their thoughts, pro or con.

nope, the tdi's are hard to come by here in cali... if you do find one, owners think their **** doesnt stink & want an arm & a leg for them. I got the 1.8t though... plenty of room for upgrades and it's getting me 32 mpg IF I can keep my foot out of it
