Default new to the cummins forum.

well ive been in the 3rd gen section for a little while now, and have been thinking about a new truck....not in the next couple of months...but sooner than later. maybe at the begining of the year. my dad use to have a cummins before, 98 3500 dually laramie. sold that and now we have a 06 ford f-350 dually lariat. i just wanted to get a feel of the diesel for when i get mine.

i originally planned on a 07 or 08 1500 hemi 4x4 QCSB, but i figured spend the little bit extra and get the diesel. and ill be saving over the summer since ill be able to have a full time job for a few months since im still in high school.

If you don't tow a heavy TT or 5th wheel trailer or do heavy hauling you might be better off buying a 1/2 ton truck. With the price of diesel running between 50 cents and $1.00 a gallon more the gas they are not cheap to drive. Yes some get better mpg then some gas engines but remember that not all diesel engines get better mpg then a gas engine when running empty. Even used a diesel engine truck will cost you between $2-3,000 more then the same truck with a gas engine. If you want to buy one just to look cool or to keep up with the guy down the street or a friend then you may regret buying one.

DBLR is right. I actually come out cheaper in this truck than all but one of my previous vehicles on gas which and a hard list to top..

197? F-350 w/460 , 3-speed and welding bed setup - 4mpg yes Highway...
1991-3000gt Full enigne tweaked , heavy foot- 14mpg H/W 6-8 City
2001 Ford Explorer [&:]- 12mpg H/W 8-9 City
1999 Lincoln Continental w/4.6L v8 & Air ride - 36 h/w12 City Heavy but worked great once it started rollin!!!
2004 Ram 1500 4.7 2wd way underpowered- 11-12 mpg H/W 8-9 City
2006 CTD 2500 5.9 Perfect - 15 H/W 17.5 and up H/W

If cost isn't an issue for you as far as running it go for it, If so definately sit down and think it over a miller time see if you will actually use it or if it will be just for show... After that its up to you

Whatever your fuel savings may be will be long gone after you buy and edge, the a smarty then a fass.

Youd think someone would set up a smarty for rent here, have the renter paypal someone yall select to hold the money in escrow, and then once the renter sends it back via certified mail the money that's held in escrow get released back to the renter. Just a thought, charge em 20 bucks, 15 to you and 5 to man holding the money aka the house. What yall havent worked at a ***** house before.

i am leaning to 04 or 04.5 dodge ram 2500 cummins @ 64k miles and that motor barely broke in.

it cost around 22,900 but i will consider a trade in with my hemi. my hemi have 59550 miles i think.
