Sweet guns. I just got a Ruger P345 (.45) and I'm going to take my concealed carry class next month. Me and a copule of guys from work are stockpiling lead and have procured just about everything we need to cast our own bullets. I've never done it before, but my buddies have. We figured we can produce 200 grain .45 bullets for about 5 cents a piece. BTW we got all of our lead for free just by asking around. We have about 500 lbs right now.
woli: ar-15's aren't generally full auto, and neither are mine. i have 2, this one by bushmaster, and another by Rock River Arms. both are suppliers to US military, but both of mine are semi-auto. i can get the full auto's here in texas, but they have to have been made before 1986, i would have to procure a class 3 tax stamp, and the gun itself would cost several thousands...
4qc4x4: if you plan on making your own rounds, be very careful! not only do you have to get the tolerances right, but the act of making the bullets is very dangerous! there is a group of 6 older guys at the shooters association i belong to and every one of them is effed up and has major problems from handling the lead and breathing the vapors from melting it down from making their own bullets. i decided i'd rather pay the extra to not have extra health problems. (and yes, their problems ARE because of the lead) so if you decide to do it, take every precaution you can think of! lead gets on your skin, and from there your eyes and mouth, so at the very least, latex gloves and some sort of respirator! http://www.health.state.ny.us/enviro...d/hlthcare.htm i have seen a lot of these first hand, the guys at my range appear at every new orientation warning about casting your own lead sorry, just felt i had to throw in my .02!

Thanks for the info. We always wear respirators and gloves when we collect the lead. The guys that are in with me are probably the most uptight, safety concious guys I have ever met. We will be extremely careful. I know another guy who was careless while reloading (not casting) and used too much powder and was lucky not lose his arm or even worse.
Very nice indeed. Every law abiding citizen should have one and should know how to use it. Preferably some sort of training. If you are able to get a CCW, you absolutely should take the class. They're dirt cheap and very informative.
I just finished my SBR build (Short Barreled Rifle). Class 3 is a real PITA.

I assembled mine piece by piece. It is still a work in progress. I have plans to make parts of it tan to match my truck.
It is a 10.5" Polygonal rifled Noveske Barrel.
Aimpoint M4 Scope
Billet Upper and Lower Receiver
Magpul M93b Collapsible Stock
Daniels Defense 10" Free Floating Rail System
I also have a Colt 20" AR-15.
For those of you who don't have a battle rifle, I highly recommend you look at the Magpul Masada. Bushmaster is releasing it soon under the name ACR.
You should have a dozen magazines for yours. I highly recommend the Magpu PMags. They're dirt cheap, light weight and 100% reliable. Keep at least a 1000 rounds at home. You never know when a Katrina type event will occur... or zombies.

I'm not sure 1000 rounds will be enough for the Apocalypse:

I'd agree. Consider 1000 the E mark.
You gotta keep your Bill Clintonesque Arsenal in good standings. You want the news report to be grand when the Government comes to help you. "So and so had amassed 10,000 rounds of baby killing armor piercing rounds of ammunition."

And I think they should have arrested him at the store or at the gunshows he was supposedly selling illegal machine guns at. However, you know what they say about hindsight.
I can agree with that
