im new here everyone...gotta ctd!!
hi everyone. im 16 and just bought my first truck. a 95 12valve ext cab long bed 5" stacks, 5spd tranny with low gear. it needed a clutch when i got it (probobly y he wanted to get rid of it) so i just put in a valair kevlar/ceramic clutch, also it has a fuel plate and k&n intake, dump bed, turbo silencer removed, toyo open country's and a few other things.
ive been reading some of your posts for about a week now and know you can help me with some of the things i want to do.
it is my first truck so i do want to put some more power to the ground but i also need it for work and like to plow.
so far i think some of the things im going to do to it first are going to be
1. gauges- i sort of like to bd x moniter. also with a manuel trannu do i really need a tranny temp gauge. and since it is a 12 valve is fuel pressure gauge needed. i still need to do some more research
2. 3k governor springs. would anyone no what the part numbers for the springs and seats are? i have a teacher at school who is a bosch dealer and said if i know what they are he can get them for me.
3. injectors...im still not sure if i want ddp 90's or possibly go with 120/140's
4. probibly hx40 turbo or even a htb2
one of the biggest things i need to do is posi my rear end. it has 3.55 and actually feels pretty good because of the low gear in the tranny but i was thinking of doing a detroit locker but cant find any to accept those gears. some say they will work with 3.73's but vey slim. i can get a stock lsd on ebay for $300 otherwise. does anyone know about these?
so far i love my truck and happy with all the help ctd owners give me.
I WILL POST PHOTOS LATER TODAY!!!!

RE: im new here everyone...gotta ctd!!
thank you cumminalong.
i think im going to start out with gauges and the rear end before i do anything to the motor.
for gauges.....i like pillar gauges but i really like the bd x moniter.. does anything know about those or have any inout. also i have a manuel tranny so wat r the gauges i should be using. i no boost and egt's but i still dont know about fuel pressure or tranny temp.
for the rear end...id like to get a detroit locker but might be forced to stick with getting a stock lsd because of the gears i have now. i havnt found any lockers that support 3.55 gears. will the stock lsd's hold up to power?and will i have both rear wheels most of the time except for turning or does it have to be engaged by pressure. i can get a like new one for around 300 on ebay

With a manual, you'll want EGT, Boost and I'd get a fuel pressure gauge.
What are the intents for the truck? Are you wanting it for off-road, towing or overall performance? That will help dictate your rear end choices.
For a daily driver, I'd stay away from the Detroit, unless you get a TruTrac LSD. The Detroit Locker itself is loud. If this is gonna be a daily driver, I'd stick with the stock LSD as long as it's not giving you the one wheel peels. On my last truck I went big and just did ARB's front and rear. There when you want, not when you don't.
Governor springs........damn it, I just had a link for them and I can't find it for the life of me. They were for 3200 and 4000. Stay away from the 4K's unless you replace the valve springs, otherwise you'll float a valve on it.
Injectors.....anything bigger than a 100hp injector is gonna exceed what your stock fuel system can effectively deliver. You idle will be really lopey and it'll hard start in the cold. I'd go 40 - 60 and no bigger. Beside, they are gonna build heat real fast.
As far as the turbo, that's gonna depend on the cash flow brother. I'd hold off on that until you get all the other supporting mods to feed the beast.

yea i think my intents for the truck are going to be for performance but not to high where i will have problems with everyday driving and plowing for the few months of winter here.
i think im going to go with the stock lsd. as for gauges is there any specific fuel pressure gauge i need because its a 12 valve. when i was reading the xmoniter manuel it said that it supported 94 and up but only showed directions for 98 1/2 and up. also what kind of fuel pressure reading would i be looking for?
im going to stick with the 3200 governor springs. also if i go higher than 100hp injectors but put in bigger delivery valves would i get away with not having to do a biger pump or fass?

16 + Cummins ? Hope you paid for that on your own or you ain't gonna appreciate it
In the mean time Welcome to the Money Pit for Mods that we call the CTD Section. Hope you have an awesome part time job to so that you won't have to spread it to thin between Mods and Insurance or the like (Truck payment itself).
I'm just waitin on photos now....
