Does anyone else have one of these things? Is yours as big a POS as mine? I noticed this last weekend that when I transmit on the CB the EGT read out goes to 1600 or higher. Before you say it is the CB, no I don't have a foot warmer hooked up to it and yes I have checked the cable and antenna. I'm a HAM radio guy too and know all about that stuff and the SWR is set dead on.
I've never noticed this before because I never transmit on the CB. My wife got on there and started talking to the truckers on our last trip and it took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on. The EGT alarm kept going off, but when I would look at the read out, it would go back down to normal after a few seconds. The truck never mis-fired, smoked, threw a codeor did anything to lead me to believe that there was anything wrong and then I realized the EGTs were jumping everytime my wife was talking!
