I am just curious what coolant you guys prefer to use, mine is low and the cap says "special coolant" on it so I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to use anything that would cause problems now or later. I did a search and saw Evans mentioned but have never heard anything about it. All input is definately appreciated. Thanks

K what year ram do you have? If it is a common rail you should be running extended life coolant. Right now I have fleetrite exteneded life in mine.

Its a 07, i lookied at the manual and saw it said "or equivalent" to the mopar "special" hahaha coolant and was just looking for some thoughts on what would be best to use. Most coolants I have found have a better extended life/protection then what the stock fluid has from what I found I just didnt know if there was a prefered. Thanks

An 07 is low on coolant?? That's not right. There might be another issue there.

if the overflow tank is low just top it off with water and be on your way, however it does sound like a leak is going on somewhere.

You should only use HOAT coolant and distilled water. IMHO, Only use tap water if its an emergency like over heating and then once your home flush out the cooling system and replace it with HOAT and distilled water. If you do use a non HOAT coolant it will shorten the life of your HOAT coolant and it may casue corrosion problems. IIRC Zertex G05 is HOAT coolant.

I've been using tap water and prestone for 6 years now. I change my coolant every (30K miles) and never had a problem. The expensive coolants and distilled water isn't required really... Here is my truck at 100K miles no rust in the block and no lime scale in the radiator... Just good ol' fashion prestone and tap water... Changed ever 30K miles...

Well its not that the level keeps dropping the fluid level just is closer the bottom line on the reservior. I was more asking to get recommendations on what others were using as far as brand. I have had the trucka couple weeks and the fluid level hasn't moved, I know at 4K miles they did a oil change and fluid change so I am thinking they just didn't fill it up or something. I am closely watching it though haha, and if it moves any I will have the dealer take a look at it.

Are you checking it hot or cold? It should be a the max line when it is hot.
