Default HELP!!

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Megacab 5.9L Cummins. After getting an oil change last week, i noticed a distinctive knocking sound coming from the engine. Also, i noticed the oil pressure was higher then normal. This knocking sound continued for a week. While driving today, the knocking sound suddenly went nuclear, and white smoke bellowed from the back. I lost power, and coasted to a stop.

I'm not mechanically inclined, being a network engineer and all, so any assistance you can give would be appreciated. The truck got towed back to the shop where the oil change was done.

Thanks!!

Might want to post this over in the Cummins section. You will get a quicker and more knowledgeable response.

Just click back to Dodge Trucks and click on the Cummins instead of the 3rd Generation forum.

2 things will cause white smoke and a knock in a diesel. You could have blown a head gasket or more likely and injector went out in it.

Well, just got back from the shop. These guys showed me a "Fuel Sample" that was bright yellow. They are saying some kind of bad liquid is in the fuel that caused this. I'm not so sure. A diesel specialist is coming by later to analyze the fluid. I think i'm getting ripped here. But what can i do? Of course when we asked them to check the oil fluid, it was perfect. Sure...

Well I hope you saved your receipt from when you last bought fuel so that if its bad fuel that caused the problem your insurance company can go after them for the cost to repair your truck.

Ok, new update. I went to the Shell station where i last filled up from, and got a sample of the diesel and took it to the shop where my truck was. Lo and behold, sitting there in the parking and running normally, was my pickup!! The owner of the shop said he went to another gas station and picked up a sample of fuel, and that sample was the same as my sample from the Shell. Apparantly, the new diesel has a yellowish color to it. So it now appears there is nothing wrong with the fuel. As to why my truck is now running normally, what gives? The owner stated they could not get the truck to start, so they hooked up the diagnostic to it, saw that there was NO codes, so they removed the diagnostic, and the truck started up normally, and has been running every since. They are now going to take it out on the interstate and do more testing. Has anyone ever heard of something like this happening? I'm at a complete loss here...

Did they change your fuel filter when they did the original service? If so, maybe some air trapped in the system.
