Default HELP!!

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Megacab 5.9L Cummins. After getting an oil change last week, i noticed a distinctive knocking sound coming from the engine. Also, i noticed the oil pressure was higher then normal. This knocking sound continued for a week. While driving today, the knocking sound suddenly went nuclear, and white smoke bellowed from the back. I lost power, and coasted to a stop.

I'm not mechanically inclined, being a network engineer and all, so any assistance you can give would be appreciated. The truck got towed back to the shop where the oil change was done.

Thanks!!

It sounds like a head gasket went after being over filled with oil. Did you check the oil level before the tow truck arrived? Let us know the results.

Oh yeah welcome to the forum sorry for the unfortunate introduction.

Thanks guys. That is what i am thinking as well. I checked the dipstick before the tow truck came. It looked like it was way overfilled, but i was parked on a slight incline, so i wasn't sure how accurate my reading was. Also, the day i picked my truck up from having the oil change, i left them 4 1 gallon containers of Royal Purple oil. My truck should only take 3 gallons correct? They left me the 4th gallon in my truck, and most of it was gone.

I'm gone to the shop here in about 45 minutes to try and get this resolved.

Thanks for your quick input guys. I'll keep everyone posted.

3 Gallons should have put you on full on the dip stick, so now you have 2 dip sticks to deal with, one in your truck and the one who changed your oil and over filled it
