Prolonged High EGTs
This past weekend I drugmy RV 400 miles into a 25-35 mph head-wind. For most of the trip my EGTs were hovering around 1,200 degrees. I kept backing out of the throttle until I was only travelling about 40-50mph. Even downshifting didn't really do much. The entire trip was 8 hours. I was at or above 1,200 for ~4 hours. I never let it go above 1,300.
I was wondering if running that long with EGTs that high will cause damage to the engine. If so, any ideas of how to reduce them.
Here's a list of mods I've done:
- Superchips 3805 tuner ( tow mode )
- replaced stock muffler with a free flowing resonator
- gutted the intake
- replace stock air filter with a Amsoil Nanofilter
Thanks for your input.
1200F at 2500rpm can be maintained all day long and well into the next morning on the 5.9.
I will say your injectors are free of carbon maintianing those tems of that time.
