think yall have a maint sched req to grease em (if I rember correctly) so can't help ya there. Ive heard from people that I'll hurt my wheel bearings but they're cheap and only takes a few bolts to change em.

if they could be taken apart, I would definately repack the bearings all around. . .they are supposed to be 'sealed'. . .but we all know how that goes.

I would just open the filler holes on both diff. and stick my finger in to see where the fluid level is and if it looks like there is any water in them. If there is water then i would change the fluid right away if there isn't then i wouldn't worry about it if the fluid still looks clean. Just my opinion.

you can't really look in them you just have to basically stick a finger in the diff and touch the fluid then pull your finger out and look at it to see what the fluid looks like.

the issue is oil floats right? So that means the water would be at the bottom right?
you could stick in a tube and then cap the rear and pull it out, that will get you the largest and deepest sampling.

the oil will only separate from the water if the truck has been sitting. if you check it after you have been driving then the fluid would be all mixed up and if there was water in it then it would look milky. This is just how i have always done it in the past and it seems to work good.

ok sounds like a decent idea, so if theres not enough water to make it milky then its prolly not enough to do damage. The main concern is rust right?

I would change out the rear diff fluid at least since you said the water was against the boddy of the truck. I found my rear breather and it is against the under side of the bed; making yours under water. I relocated mine higher while trying to figure out how to mount a 37" tire under the truck.
