savage how long are you driving on the dead lizzards? It should cost you 50-75 bucks with filter depending if you buy the gallon jugs or not.
If you drive 5k on your oil and 10k in amsoil, amsoil is still cheaper at 75 bucks. And it will come out cleaner than your reg oil. You can alwasy buy a 55 gal drum of the oil. Haha.
yeah the two gallons will be pleanty, still dont get that both axles take the same weight and a much lighter weight than my rear.
Just dont overfill it.

With your lift, make sure that the control arms for the front axle are not greasable.

Thanks for the suggestions RamitOne makes since, I think I will swich.... btw what is "dead lizards"??

They aren't greasable, I wish they were... I'm thinking about taking the suggestions from some guys on here and drilling/tapping them and making them greasable. Superlifts control arms aren't greasable either aparently.

if they could be taken apart, I would definately repack the bearings all around. . .they are supposed to be 'sealed'. . .but we all know how that goes.
So basically you are saying that there is nothing I can do about it, so i shouldn't worry about it right? The only thing I could do is replace them, but that would be a waste, unless they actually were bad. So I should just wait for them to go bad and then replace corect?

thanks man-

Ok, I called my local amsoil guy, and he can't get what I need for about 2-3 days (after the weekend). You think I could use mobil-1 full synthetic this time instead, or should I wait for the "good stuff".

later-

Basher,

Do you tow heavy?

Do you race the truck?

Do you do extended drains on your diff's?

If not, then don't worry about it.

Worry about it when you can findONE instance of a lubricated part, under normal circumstances, with the proper level and type of lube that failed DUE TO the lubricant.....on dino oil or synthetic.

The biggest thing is not having CONTAMINATED fluids in there.

You see the beating I put on my truck right? Did you read the link I gave you earlier in the thread? Do you see what I use?

Make your own decision based on that.

Personally, if it ain't a race car or going under some EXTREME shock loading, you are wasting your money brotha...

Just my .02

dead lizzards, dead dinosaurs etc all turn into oil in the long run, so the regular oil is made up of decomposed animals trees etc etc.

I'd wait till next weekend, dev a relationship with the dealer, see if you can get price breaks and buy your engine oil in gal jugs as well.
Do yourself a favor when you drain your oil catch some in like a glass measuring cup so you can see it clearly, take a pic of it and then when you drain your engine next time after twice the mileage and you'll be impressed on how much cleaner it looks.
Think about how much you spent on your truck, why skimp on the small stuff. Even if you couldn't run amsoil for such long intervals its still a better oil, I dont want to push the oil to its life limits, that's why I'm changing a 25k oil at 10k.

I think its drew that has that old yoda where his tranny pissed all over his driveway yet he still drove it to work and back, no damage done to the tranny, he had amsoil synth tranny fluid.

I think it was drew, could have been someone else in the ctd section.
