Default Starting up my 03 5.9 question

I have had my truck for a couple months now. i have an 03 5.9 5 speed. I have noticed that my truck "turns over" several times before it starts. My grandpa has an 01 5.9 and he seems to barely touches the key and his starts right up. Once mine starts it runs better than a new one, but sometimes I will let go of the key before it starts. It just seems like it should start quicker. I don't want to exagerate but it only takes 2-3 seconds to start, but my grandpa's 01 takes less than a second. Does that make sense? My truck does have an edge juice on it I don't know if that is what causes this or not. Its not the battery either, it turns over fast. yes I wait until the light goes off. Any comments or suggestions?

what you are seeing is one of the main differences between a HPCR engine and a mechanical engine.

the HPCR needs to figure out what stroke it is on with what cylinder, it also needs to build up pressure in the rail. the older engines were all mechanicaly timed through gears so the P7100 and VP44 already knew which injecctor to fire.

mine will do the same thing yours does, sometimes it will take a bit to fire up, other times she's breathing fire before I even turn the key fully.

Great to hear that mine isn't the only "one"! I wasn't sure if I was comparing apples to apples or not. Good to know, and thanks.
