Default air conditioning

First summer with the mega cab, it was 96 yesterday, after work I started the truck, turn the air on, and fan on speed 4. About 20 miles down the road the truck had cooled about 10 degrees.

My AC wasn't switching locations. I was only getting air out of the defrost vents so the truck took a horribly long time to cool. the fan speed was selectible. Does that sound about right?

My A/C checked out "OK" but I am not impressed. It does take too long to cool the truck, and if I am in stop and go city type traffic I can forget cooling off much. Steady driving at speeds over 35 or so will give barely acceptable cooling. I am going to put a coolant shut off valve in line with the heater core to remove that heat source from the cab, that netted me a good result with my '04 Ferd.

Im getting air from the dash vents but the pressure is low, when the fan is switched from 3 to 4 it sound like a boing under the passenger dash holding the brake.

under the glove box with there is a rod that may be hung up try to free this if it cycles then that is the problem. My ac tested good as far as charge and pressures high vs low. The vents had very low presure, but the top vents higher pressure. Mine was doing this on a day with tempts of 115 I drove 30 miles to the dealer ship that did all of my warranty work. Upon arrival to the dealership I could ring out my shirt. It was horrible.
