Default Drove a 2008 Duramax...

yesterday. I really didn't know what to expect, but I was really surprised at how quiet it was. The power was good, but not crazy or anything. I don't think it had the low end that my 5.9 has. It only had 500 miles on it and it rode very smooth and the Allison transmission shifts very smooth. I have driven a lot of powerstrokes and I would definetely take a duramax over a powerstroke, but would never trade my cummins for one. Overall I think it was a pretty good truck, but he put some 285's on the stock rims and they were rubbing at full lock. Just some info I thought you might find interesting.

Most of my customer base is duramax owners, and not one of them is unhappy with their rides. In a weird sort of way, I guess we are all brand loyal.

They seem to be pretty solid trucks. I just can't get over how quiet it was. I don't know it that is a good thing or bad thing, but no matter what it was the quietest truck I have been in.

What model did you drive? I test drove a 3500 Dually with the 8' bed and, actually, it didnt feel that big going down the road. It felt very light on its feet.

IFS on a 3/4 ton truck makes you wonder what else they screwed up.

When I was in the market for a truck I was looking at tchevy, I really liked it (2007), but then i noticed the cab is very small, the rear view mirror acted as a blindspot in itself. The 4x4 sat very low. I still wanted it, so I had my friend drive me back so I could buy it (also had 100k warranty and this was before dodge had their lifetime), so just before we pulled in my friend said let's check out the dodges...

so I listened to her, sat in one, liked it *** load more than the tchevy. Bought it after I test drove it.

Came back to the tchevy dlrshp with a friend a few months later. Found out the half tons chassis are more similar to a car than a truck, they're designed for a smoother ride. I can't stand a truck that I can see the top of the roof (I'm 6ft4)

A lot of people are brand loyal, but if cummins jumped ship to ford or toyota Im pretty sure that the guys that really need the power will switch so they can still have a cummins. The 6.1 hemi couldnt pick up the slack.

I have favorite brands, but I'm not really loyal to one brand. I would look at an American brand first, but I might still buy another brand in the end. At this point I don't see any reason to buy a Japanese truck vs an American one. If I were in the market for a 1/2 ton truck today, i'd probably have to give GM serious consideration because they get the best MPG, 20 hwy, and it really does get it.

Of course when it comes to 3/4 or 1 Ton, the American truck brands are still the only players for now.

I've owned all 3. No brand loyalty whatsoever. I buy what I feel is the product I need at the time. Dodge is the happy medium between Chevy and Ford. Chevy is a car with an open trunk, Ford is a dump truck, Dodge fills the middle of the spectrum very nicely.

fantasy. As for the guys that like the tchevys its just like if you have an ugly kid. Youll still love em and care for em. But deep down you know.
