Default Gray/White smoke

When I hammer down on my rig I get a gray/white smoke. This is after it has warmed up and hasnt been drivin hard for awhile. The fuel filter has about 4k on it, air filter is ok, oil prolly needs to be changed. Would a fuel filter do cause that?

It sounds more like injector then fuel or fuel filter to me, but then I could be wrong.

I thought grey/white smoke is unburned fuel. Which would mean a bad injector. I may be wrong though.

white smoke can be unburned fuel or coolant. but since you have a 5.9 it really shouldn't be coolant, so probably an injector.

That's just what happens when you baby it for ato longand then stand on it, do it a few times and it will clear up and then start blowing black, ok dark gray anyway.

My 07 5.9 does it on start up, after its warmed up. But blows black down the road. I figured its a sticky injector. When I take it in I am sure the dealer will blame my Edge Juice.

I believe grey/white smoke is unburnt fuel, or very partially burnt fuel. It usually happens on older mechanical injection diesels during cold start (<32*F), or when the injection timing needs to be adjusted, or the injector required pop pressure is going down.

A sticky injector or fuel delivery issues could cause that kind of condition on newer common rail diesels I guess.

Up do you run a fuel additive? The couple of times I've gotten a ton of white smoke it was a combo of icky fuel and not running PSD.

On the PSD bottle it recommends running a higher concentration if you haven't run it often; to help clean the injectors. Might be all it takes to kick the issue.
