Default A dealer rant......

So I went to the dealer today to see what it would cost to havea set of cab lights installed, they said $200-$250. I think I will do it myself, I know I can do it but if it was cheap enough I wouldnt bother. Now for the rant,
I asked the service manager about the oil seepage on the TOP of my valve cover to see if it was something he had ever seen before. He said not much at all and the ones he has seen are due to people hitting them (yea, for fun I take a ball peen hammer and start smashing things in my engine compartment). I said there are no marks at all, I did buy the truck slightly used but it started recently. He said you could have leaned on it with your forearm while doing something under the hood. He said they would look at it but I get the feeling I would be forking over the cash for it at the end of the day since according to him it must be me. He was nice and all and explained to me if he sends it back to dodge and they dont think it was defective he would have to pay for it but dammit, I didnt do it and now I am just going to end up fixing it myself. Rant over.

I have never owned anything with a warranty before and honestly I worried LESS about things then than I do now with a full warranty. I figure it this way, I will have to get a freind, family member or employee to pick me up and drop me off, miss time from work (and time for employee if I use him) and possibly have to pay $300-$450 for the cover and installation or I can buy one off ebay for around $60 and put it on myself in about 30 minutes.[:@]

Don't pay for it. You have a warranty. They will only have to send the part back to Dodge if Dodge ask him to.There would have to be obivious damage/abuse for them to not get paid by Dodge. If there is no damage/abuse, then he should do the job without question. If he is scared to fix it, tell him to take digital pics of it and let a district manager make the decision....

And go to a different dealer. They tried to rape you on the cab lights! You can go to any truck accessory place and buy the lights installed for $80 - $100 bucks.

I dont see how that is possible, the lights alone are over $80 even online. I actually thought $200 was a pretty fair price but I enjoy working on my truck.

Man, I hope that it wasn't the Covington dealership. I bought my truck there and always wonderend about warranty work there. But then again, with all the crap I've done to the truck, they'd lock there doors if they saw me coming.

Thats the one, I am going to give a go at some point, I will let you know how it goes. Considering my cat is missing and I have a full set of guages we will certainly see what kind of dealership they are.
